Lawson Software, the Enterprise behind the Internet, today announced a technology partnership with James E. Van Ella and Associates (JEV), a premier provider of pre-employment background investigations, to integrate its real-time background checking technology with Lawson's ijob electronic recruitment service. The integration to the JEV technology will be generally available to ijob customers on July 31, 2000.
Through the partnership, JEV will provide Lawson's ijob customers with its Background Now service, which includes background checking of applicants' social security, employment and credit histories, as well as a national fugitive search. Also available to ijob customers through Background Now is a 20-state criminal database search, as well as a healthcare-specific pre-employment background screening which includes a verification check of professional licensing status. JEV's Background Now technology allows recruiters to determine if candidates meet their employment requirements early in the recruitment process, saving time by allowing recruiters to focus only on acceptable candidates.

All transactions conducted via the ijob integration with JEV are fully secured via state-of-the-art encryption technology. Because the Background Now background check is performed in real time, recruiters will usually receive the results of the information search in just five minutes. Background check results are delivered via email as an Internet link containing the results. JEV will then archive the search results for future verification by the customer.
